Scenario-based strategic planning

Robert Freeman Robert Freeman, University of Maryland

Scenario-based strategic planning involves describing a finite number of alternate futures and the exogenous drivers (government and the economy, as examples) that affect the future. By identifying these scenarios and structural elements of the drivers, a company's R&D division can be structured to be successful regardless of which one future occurs. The seminar will focus on the process of scenario-based strategic planning and its utlity in R&D planning.
