Startup Support Programmes - harnessing the differences to build ecosystems

Startup support programmes and the development of regional ecosystems

Caren Weinberg, Ruppin Academic Center

Start-ups are increasingly seen as a high-impact means of turning ideas generated through research into value (commercial and non-commercial) for society. Knowledge on the role and effectiveness that regional and national support programmes can play in supporting the growth of such firms within clusters still has numerous gaps. This session will explore topics including the roles of: incubator and accelerator programmes, physical and virtual support activities, and private/public collaborations.
